Mineral Beneficiation and Value Chain Development
A major objective of the FTSEZ is to promote mineral beneficiation by processing minerals locally rather than exporting them in raw form. By strengthening both upstream and downstream activities in the Platinum Group Metals (PGMs) and chrome value chains, the zone aims to add more value to local resources. This will support regional industries and ensure that South Africa benefits more from its mineral wealth.

The demand for mining inputs from mines in the surrounding region presents a major opportunity for industrialisation. The FTSEZ aims to support the manufacturing of mining equipment, machinery, and other industrial inputs required by the mining sector.
