The Fetakgomo-Tubatse Special Economic Zone (FTSEZ) is strategically focused on developing high-growth industries that support industrialisation, innovation, and sustainable economic development in Limpopo Province. Through targeted sector development, the FTSEZ aims to create a diversified industrial economy that leverages the region’s natural resources, infrastructure, and strategic location while attracting both local and international investment.

Mining and mineral beneficiation form one of the core focus areas of the FTSEZ. Located within one of the world’s richest mineral regions, the zone supports the processing and beneficiation of Platinum Group Metals (PGMs), chrome, magnetite, and battery minerals. This sector is expected to drive value addition, industrial growth, and downstream manufacturing opportunities linked to the mining industry.

The FTSEZ also prioritises advanced manufacturing and renewable energy development. Opportunities exist for the manufacturing of machinery, mining equipment, and industrial components that support mining and heavy industry operations. In addition, the zone promotes renewable and green energy industries, including hydrogen fuel cells, solar energy, battery technologies, nuclear energy, biomass, biodiesel, and carbon-related solutions aimed at supporting a low-carbon economy.

Agriculture and agro-processing represent another important sector within the FTSEZ. The zone supports agricultural production and value-added processing activities involving citrus, cotton, red and white meat products, and fresh produce markets. These industries contribute to food security, export growth, job creation, and rural economic development across the region.

The FTSEZ further supports the growth of pharmaceuticals, medical production, and automotive manufacturing. Investment opportunities include pharmaceutical production, medical product distribution, green automotive component manufacturing, and aftermarket services. In addition, the zone promotes business process outsourcing (BPO) services such as call centres and data centres, helping to strengthen digital infrastructure, service delivery, and technology-driven economic growth.
