FETAKGOMO – TUBATSE SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE
The Fetakgomo-Tubatse Special Economic Zone (FTSEZ) forms part of the South African Government’s Special Economic Zone programme aimed at enhancing the country’s manufacturing and export capabilities while attracting foreign direct investment. Anchored in the Limpopo Development Plan (LDP), the FTSEZ is strategically positioned as a leading investment destination for companies seeking to participate in the green energy “Just Transition,” supporting sustainable industrial growth, quality green job creation, and the upliftment of workers and communities affected by the transition away from coal. The FTSEZ also forms part of the planned Limpopo Platinum and Chrome industrial cluster, incorporating both upstream mining input supply manufacturing industries and downstream mineral beneficiation industries, which hold significant potential for clean energy production and sustainable development.
The development is expected to positively impact more than a million people across the province through increased economic activity within the Dilokong Spatial Economic Initiative and surrounding districts and municipalities, while also contributing to skills development, regional economic integration, and improved socio-economic wellbeing. The FTSEZ will be developed in phases, with dedicated zones for renewable energy, heavy industry, additional light industrial space, hydrogen energy-related industries, as well as mixed-use and residential developments aligned with future market demands.
